Since we're mixing the album, in other words finalizing the upcoming cd, I'd like to share some bits of the process for those who are interested in how the album was made, and show some clips from the rehearsals and the recording session. I'll also give away the list of the songs we recorded. Most of you don't know what the album is about, so keep reading if you want to know on forehand. :)
We made this record the classical way. Everybody played together live in the studio, and then we added some solos afterwards. So, no computers plays any beats or instruments. It's handmade, which I believe gives it that true soul, human groove and musicality.
Drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and the horn section played live together in the studio song by song and later on we added the vocals and percussion.
Here's a clip when P-O Nilsson adds the moog solo on "Sir Duke".

And here's a clip from the vocal session. You can only here my acoustic voice since the music's in my headphones. No autotune, no effects. Just...yep...vocals.... ;)
So, if you're a fan of soul music, you've probably guessed it by now, haha! Yes, you're right, it's exclusively songs by the greatest singer of all time, Mr Stevie Wonder. Performed by us in a personal way, how we feel his masterpieces.
Some of his greatest hits like Superstition, Sir Duke, Higher ground, For once in my life, Signed sealed delievered, Ribbon in the sky, For your love, to more "hidden gems" (not to Stevie fans) like Do I do, If you really love me, I'm new, Conversation Peace etc.
This album is by far the greatest challenge a singer can put in front of him. To sing Stevie's songs is close to impossible. That's why only a few of his songs get covered. They're simply too hard to sing!
So, since I love his music and the way he performs his music, I just felt stupid enough and brave enough to take on this ultimate and almost impossible challenge. Why? Well, to push my limits ahead of me, to keep myself "on my toes" and continue to develop as a singer as much as possible.
I wasn't even shure if I wanted to release the recordings to the public since the recording itself is the challenge for me, and now that part's done. But along the way, I met so many people who wants to listen to it, so I decided to make a cd out of it, and ruin myself economically. :)
Anywho, stay close to this website to see more clips from the rehearsal and the recording, and soooooon I will have info on how you can order the cd!
Ending today's story with a short clip from the studio. P-O Nilsson, Pontus Engborg, Marcus "Mackan" Jacobson (not in the picture) and Berra "Bas-Berra" Holmgren getting ready to nail another song.
Kisses,
Peter
